| This is my 2nd birth story. I was due on February 4, 1993. My Dr. wanted to induce me the middle of January and I refused. (read my 1st birth story, Carrie Elizabeth, 11/23/91 to see why). My due date came and went and my Dr. still wanted to induce, but had no real good reason to do so. I weighed around 300 lbs but had no complications at all. The baby was growing fine, and there were no problems. On February 15 we had a Dr. appt. We decided that if the baby wasn't born by the 18th we would induce on that day, being I would be 2 weeks overdue. On the night of the 15th I stayed up til about midnight, cleaning, doing laundry...never thinking I was "nesting". My husband worked late, and was home around 3 am, and I woke up when he arrived home. I couldn't get back to sleep so I went to the living room and sat with him. He was watching TV and I started having to go pee a lot...every 20 minutes or so. After going pee for about the 5th time I started having some very light contractins, but I hadn't said anything to my husband at this time. He asked me if I was ok, and I said yes. He later told me he was timing my bathroom visits. The next time I went to the bathroom I got my "bloody show" or "mucus plus". My contractions started getting a little more painful and we started timing them. About 8 minutes apart now. We decided to call the hospital. They said come in and get checked. It was about 4:30-5 am at this time. We called my friend brandy who was going to view the birth and let her know it is time. Got my bags and my other daughters things together and headed out. We dropped my daughter at my dad's house and told them it was time. We arrived at the hospital around 5:30-5:45 am. I was checked and yes, I was in labor. Around 7 am I was having some very painful contractions and was begging for my epidural. They had broke my water shortly before this. Finally I was told the anesthesiologist was at Shoney's having breakfast. I was furious! He finally came and gave me the epidural around 9 am. It didn't even work. I felt everything and was extremely pissed. At 10:55 am Sarah Nicole was born, healthy, beautiful. Had apgar scores of 9 & 9. She never had any problems and my only complaint was the Dr. had let me tear, instead of giving me an epesiotomy. Sarah weighed 8 lbs 9 oz and was 20 inches long. We went home 2 days later. =)
